Frank Fenner Award

The ASID Frank Fenner Award for Advanced Research in Infectious Diseases is named in honour of Professor Frank Fenner, an Australian pioneer of viral research. Prof Fenner played a central part in the global eradication of smallpox, chairing the World Health Organization Global Commission for the Certification of Smallpox Eradication. Prof Fenner was an active member of ASID, and was the patron of the society from 2000 until his death in late 2010, aged 95.

CASS Foundation Travel Awards

Funding bodies:  CASS Foundation

These travel awards support early-career researchers in attending international conferences relevant to their research to present their current findings as an invited presenter, as an oral presentation or as a poster presentation.

Funder closing date:  Friday 25 August 2017.

Funding available:  Grants are up to $4,500 and may cover up to 80 per cent of total travel costs. The conference to be attended must be held between 1 November 2017 and 31 May 2018.

Eligibility:  Australian citizens or permanent residents who have been awarded their PhD between 25 August 2010 and 25 August 2015 may apply. Early-career researchers with an equivalent research intensive qualification may also be eligible.
